Ampang, 5 February 2025 – Bank Pembangunan Malaysia Berhad (BPMB) celebrated Chinese New Year with students at the Special Community Society of Ampang (SCSOA), contributing RM20,000 to support their programmes.
The celebration began with performances from the children, followed by a Chinese New Year-themed feast shared by the students, their families, and BPMB staff.
Sainursalwa Sani, BPMB’s Chief Human Resource Officer, said, “This occasion is about coming together as a community to celebrate the joy and hope that Chinese New Year brings. At BPMB, our purpose is rooted in delivering impact capital for national development, and this includes supporting organisations like SCSOA, which create meaningful opportunities for individuals and their families. We hope our contribution helps sustain the incredible work being done here.”
Christine Wong, President of SCSOA, expressed her gratitude, saying the support from BPMB is invaluable.
“It allows us to continue providing quality education, life skills training, and a safe space for children and young adults with special needs. Celebrations like today remind us of the power of compassion and shared purpose,” she said.
The SCSOA, established in 1999, provides a nurturing environment for children and young adults with disabilities such as down syndrome, autism, cerebral palsy, global delay, prader willi syndrome, epilepsy, and slow learners. With 60 students aged between three and 43 years old, the centre focuses on helping them maximise their potential and live fulfilling, independent lives.
The SCSOA also works to provide a comprehensive range of services, from education and life skills training to recreational activities such as music, drama, and swimming. Their aim is to empower students from lower-income groups, single parents, and the unemployed by helping their children achieve independence and fulfil their potential.
BPMB’s contribution supports these efforts, aligning with the Bank’s focus on delivering impact capital that strengthens communities and creates lasting change.
BPMB’s corporate social responsibility initiatives prioritise Community Development, Financial Literacy, Women Empowerment, and Environmental Sustainability, aligning with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
