Friday, 27 September 2024, Kuching – Bank Pembangunan Malaysia Berhad (Bank Pembangunan) and Zecon Berhad today signed an RM852 million Tawarruq Asset Financing facility to support the development of the Hospital Pakar Kanak-Kanak Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (HPKK) project.
The financing ensures the long-term sustainability of the HPKK project, a 243-bed specialist hospital that is crucial in expanding healthcare services for children in Malaysia. It also supports Zecon’s broader operations and aligns with BPMB’s purpose of delivering impact capital for national development.
Assessment of the facility was conducted through BPMB’s Measuring Impact on National Development (MIND) framework, ensuring alignment with environmental, social, and governance (ESG) standards and the Government’s 12th Malaysia Plan (RMK12) objectives.
Roni Abdulwahab, Group Chief Executive Officer of BPMB, stated: “This facility fulfills our counter-cyclical role in supporting sustainable long-term infrastructure investments, in line with the government’s infrastructure development journey as outlined in national agendas and policies. As a Bumiputera-controlled company with Pribumi roots in Sarawak, Zecon significantly advances Malaysia’s broader national development agenda.”
Zecon plays a significant role in nation-building, contributing to Malaysia’s development through key projects, including hospitals, government buildings, Project Program Bekalan Air Triang Negeri Sembilan including dam, water transfer tunnel and treatment plant, the Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) new campus and Pan Borneo Highway in the State of Sarawak, Phase 1 Work Package 3 (Serian Roundabout to Pantu Junction).
Datuk Zainal Abidin Ahmad, Group Managing Director of Zecon Berhad, expressed his appreciation: “We are grateful to BPMB for their support.
